Go, Nagai Lead Pirates in First Round at UTEP

EL PASO, TEXAS – Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) and Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) shot under par to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a fifth place team standing after round one of the 2016 Price's "Give'em Five" Invitational on Friday.

Go fired a 3-under-par, 69, and is currently tied for fifth place among 75 individual golfers, three strokes behind the individual co-leaders, UTEP's Andreas Sorenson and UTSA's Zander Lozano. Nagai finished just one stroke behind Go with a 2-under-par, 70. He is tied for 10th place overall.

Collectively, the Pirates fired their fourth sub-par round of the fall season with a 1-under-par, 287. They trail the team leaders, UTEP by 11 strokes entering Saturday's second round. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Marquette, is currently only four strokes ahead, in fourth place.

Sophomore Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) had a strong round, finishing with a 1-over-par, 73. He is currently tied for 29th place overall.

Junior Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) finished with a 3-over-par, 75, on Friday, while freshman Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) rounded out the Pirates scoring with a 7-over-par, 79.

Freshman Alex McAuley (Douglas, Isle of Man) and senior Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) also made the trip and are competing as individuals. McAuley shot a 4-over-par, 76, in round one, while O'Brien is 6-over-par with a 78.

In addition to Seton Hall and host UTEP, the field is comprised of nine other teams including: Â Air Force, Army West Point, Marquette, NM State, San Jose State, Texas State, UT-Rio Grande Valley, UTSA and Western New Mexico.

Tee Times:
The field will play one round on each of three days. Teams will begin teeing off at 10 a.m. ET on Friday and Saturday.  There will be a 10:15 a.m. ET shotgun start on Sunday.
