
Yeom, Go Lead Pirates to Ninth Place Finish at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - Freshman Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) fired a 1-under-par, 70, in the final round of the 2016 Princeton Invitational to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a ninth place team finish.
Yeom finished the weather-shortened, 36-hole event in a tie for 20th place with a 3-over-par, 75-70-145. Junior Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) was the top Pirate finisher for the tournament, firing a 1-over-par, 71-72-143, to tie for 12th place among 82 individual golfers. Duke's Alex Smalley won the individual title at 8-under-par.
Collectively, Seton Hall was five strokes better in Sunday's second round, firing a 7-over-par, 291. For the tournament, the Pirates finished at 19-over-par with a 296-291-587. Duke won the team title by a staggering 34 strokes over second place Harvard. They were 25-under-par. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Georgetown finished just four strokes ahead of it in eighth place.
Junior Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) finished the tournament tied for 41st place with a 7-over-par, 75-74-149. Senior Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) shot a 10-over-par, 75-77-152. Freshman Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) rounded out the Pirates' scoring with an 11-over-par, 78-75-153.

The Course:
A year ago, the tournament was played at Aronimink Golf Club and Merion Golf Club outside Philadelphia due to weather conditions having affected Springdale, but the tournament will be back at Princeton's home course for the 30th annual event. It has been played every year since 1987 except 2003, when the scheduled event was rained out. Princeton has won three titles in its home invitational, including the first one in 1987 and again in 2000 and 2004.
The Field:
Along with fellow Ivies Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Penn and Yale, Princeton welcomed a pair of teams ranked in the top 50 in the April 5 Golfweek rankings, No. 22 Duke and No. 34 Georgia Tech, plus regional foes from Georgetown, Rider, Rutgers, Saint Joseph's, Seton Hall and Temple.
