Go Finishes Pirates' 1st NCAA Competition Since 2001

KOHLER, WIS. - Junior Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) fired a 2-over-par, 74, in Wednesday's final round to finish the 2016 NCAA Kohler Regional third among the 10 golfers competing as individuals.
Go had a highly consistent third round, fitting two birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey on both the front and back nines. With four birdies today, he finished the three-day event with a total of eight.
For the tournament, Go finished with a 4-over-par, 76-70-74-220. Among all 75 competing golfers, he finished tied for 38th. Among the 10 golfers competing without teams, Go finished third. The winner of that group, Ohio State's Tee-k Kelly, earns a trip to the NCAA National Championship in Eugene, Ore. as an individual. Kelly was also the overall winner of the Kohler Regional, shooting a 7-under-par, 70-70-69-209.
The top five teams in the Kohler Regional also advance to the NCAA National Championship. Those teams include Florida, Arkansas, Florida State, Baylor and Kohler Regional champion, Illinois.
Go is the first Seton Hall men's golfer to compete at the NCAA Regionals since the team qualified for the East Regional in Williamsburg, Va. in 2001, and it finishes a spectacular year for the third-year Pirate. Last week, Go was named BIG EAST Player of the Year after becoming only the third Seton Hall golfer to win the individual BIG EAST Championship. His historic tournament was fueled by a record-breaking second round, which the junior fired a Callawassie Island course-record, 7-under-par, 65. Additionally, Go's 7-under-par, 65, is the lowest single-round ever shot for a Seton Hall golfer at the BIG EAST Championship, and the second-lowest for a golfer from any school in the history of the conference tournament.
Prior to the BIG EAST Championship, Go became the first three-time All-BIG EAST performer in Seton Hall history. The junior shaved more than two full strokes off his scoring average from a year ago and led the BIG EAST Conference with a 71.50 average. Go tallied nine top-10 finishes in just 11 tournaments this year and shot a team-best 12 sub-par rounds. He has recorded five top-5 finishes and had four sub-par tournaments.
Earlier this spring, Go set a new Seton Hall record-low score for a three-round, par-72 tournament with a 9-under-par, 66-69-72-207 at the Loyola Invitational. His 9-under is the second-most strokes under par in Pirate history. Last fall, he fired an impressive 6-under-par, 70-69-71-210, at the Hartford Hawks Invitational.

Professionals and amateurs of all skill levels can experience a day of golf like no other on the Meadow Valleys course. Described as both subtle and devilish, it winds through meadows and charges across ravines, reflecting the natural features of the Wisconsin terrain. This championship course challenges even the experts to weigh the relative advantages of distance and accuracy, though staggered tees put much of the danger out of harm's way for the average golfer. The Meadow Valleys was ranked #72 in Golf Digest ranking of America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses for 2015/2016
Blackwolf Run opened for play in June 1988 and was named that year's "Best New Public Course" in the country by Golf Digest. Regarded as one of Pete Dye's crowning achievements, Blackwolf Run has hosted a number of professional championships: the Andersen Consulting World Golf Championships in 1995, 1996 and 1997 as well as the U.S. Women's Open in 1998 and 2012.
The Field:
The full field of competitors at the Kohler Regional consisted of 13 teams and 10 individuals. For Go's sake, he was looking to best the nine other individuals in the field. The best performer after three rounds among the 10 individuals, will qualify for the NCAA National Championship in Eugene, Ore., May 27 - June 1. Only one of the 10 individual golfers qualify. Go was the No. 1 seed among the 10 individuals.
