CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. – Seton Hall women's golfers Macky Fouse (Aliquippa, Pa.), Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) and Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) were named to the 2015-16 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team on Tuesday.
For Pantelas, it's the second straight year she's received this honor.
A total of 828 women's collegiate golfers were recognized across Divisions I, II and III. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA to qualify is 3.50.
Fouse took a major step forward in her second year in South Orange. The sophomore competed in nine of 12 tournaments and shaved nearly two full strokes off her average for the year. She twice shot a 76, which is the lowest single round of her career. Fouse's best tournament in 2015-16 was a 20-over-par, 76-77-80-233 at the Yale Fall Intercollegiate.
Named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team in 2016, Pantelas recorded a 78.19 stroke average for the year, which was second-best on the team. She notched three top-10 finishes, and one top-5 finish, which was her most-significant performance of the year. Pantelas tied for fourth, and therefore qualified for the All-Tournament Team with a 15-over-par, 80-73-78-231, at the BIG EAST Championship. Her top tournament of the year was a 7-over-par, 79-72-72-223 performance at the William & Mary Invitational to begin the fall season.
Named to an All-BIG EAST Team for the second time in her career, Tenhundfeld was the best and most consistent golfer in 2015-16. An Academic Merit Award recipient, she competed in all 12 tournaments and led the Pirates with a 77.48 stroke average. The senior tallied three top-10 finishes and one top-5 finish, while shooting the team's low score in seven of 12 tournaments. Tenhundfeld tied for second at the Bucknell Invitational with a 15-over-par, 73-74-78-225. Her top event of the year was a 9-over-par, 76-77-153, at the Low country Intercollegiate. Tenhundfeld closes her impressive career ranked third on Seton Hall's career lists in stroke average, tournaments, rounds, top-10 finishes and top-5 finishes.
The impressive trio contributed to a third straight BIG EAST title and NCAA Regional appearance for Seton Hall.
