South Orange, N.J. – The Pirate Sports Network (PSN), presented by RWJBarnabas Health, released its 2016 fall broadcast schedule on Wednesday, and for the first time ever, the digital home of Seton Hall Athletics coverage will present its live events for FREE in the 2016-17 year.
The PSN will broadcast a total of 23 Seton Hall sporting events between men's and women's soccer as well as volleyball, which is four more than the network aired in the fall of 2015.
Coverage will kick off with a jam-packed slate of games as the network will present seven Pirates home sporting events in its first week on the air in 2016-17. Opening night on the PSN will feature the men's soccer team hosting Stony Brook in its home opener at Owen T. Carroll Field on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. The women's soccer team will follow with its home opener on Monday, Aug. 29 when the Pirates battle Quinnipiac at 7 p.m.
The network will present six sporting events in as many days to fill up the Labor Day weekend slate, which is highlighted by the Seton Hall Volleyball Classic at Walsh Gymnasium. A Monday night holiday showdown between men's soccer and Penn will cap off a busy second weekend of coverage.
On top of presenting all non-conference home sporting events for The Hall this fall, the PSN will carry 11 BIG EAST match-ups as well. The conference slate on the PSN kicks off with volleyball hosting Butler and Xavier on Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 24. A week later, the PSN will open up the month of October with a big-time men's soccer showdown as The Hall take on Marquette. Then on Sunday, Oct. 2 women's soccer takes on perennial power DePaul in the Pirates' second conference home fixture of 2016.
Other schedule highlights include an in-state battle between men's soccer and Princeton on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and volleyball hosting defending conference champion Creighton on Friday, Oct. 28.
Similar to last year, the PSN will also provide live broadcasts for women's basketball, swimming & diving, baseball, and softball as well as simulcast the radio broadcast of men's basketball games. All live events will be FREE, and schedules for those events will be forthcoming in the next few months.
Entering its second year since the PSN took on a new look, the network is driven by Seton Hall university students, providing educational, hands-on opportunities to those interested in advancing their knowledge in live production. The PSN is powered by a Tricaster 855 Extreme, which allows viewers to see multiple camera angles and enhanced graphics.
