
Mason, Thelen Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall senior Dominique Mason (Chicago, Ill.) and junior Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) were named to the BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll on Tuesday.
Mason showed off her impressive offensive and defensive games in two matches for Seton Hall last week. Playing all six rotations, Mason led the Pirates with 4.57 digs per set. On Wednesday vs. Villanova, Mason recorded a double-double with a team-high 21 digs to go with 12 kills and one block. On Saturday, she notched a double-double again with 11 digs and 10 kills to go with a .308 attack percentage and three blocks.
Thelen was the top force offensively for Seton Hall in two victories last week. The outside hitter had 16 kills, only two attack errors and a .359 attack percentage in The Hall's victory over Villanova on Wednesday. She also had three blocks. On Saturday, her efficient play continued against St. John's. Thelen recorded a match-high 15 kills with only three attack errors for a team-best .444 attack percentage in only three sets.
Creighton's Jaali Winters was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Brittany Witt was named Defensive Player of the Week. Villanova's Mallory Potts was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Those joining Mason and Thelen on the Honor Roll include: Butler's Anna Logan, Marquette's Allie Barber and Villanova's Allison Fitzgerald.
The Pirates will return to action on Friday, October 20 when they travel to Providence. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
