NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall graduate student Sharay Barnes (Swarthmore, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll on Tuesday.
Barnes was the most offensively efficient Pirate last week, and one of the best in the BIG EAST Conference. In Seton Hall's sweep of DePaul on Friday, Barnes had seven kills, zero attack errors and a team-best .583 attack percentage. She also had two digs and four blocks. On Saturday, Barnes had a season-high 21 kills, only four attack errors and a .395 attack percentage in a marathon of a match against Marquette.
This is the first time Barnes has been honored this season, but she is the fourth different Pirate to earn honor roll status joining teammates Abby Thelen, (three times), Dominique Mason (three times) and Maggie Cvelbar.
Marquette's Allie Barber was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while Creighton's Jaali Winters was named Defensive Player of the Week. Marquette's Hope Werch was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Those joining Barnes on the Honor Roll include: Butler's Bri Lilly, Georgetown's Symone Speech, St. John's Amanda Sanabia and Xavier's Lauren Frilling.
The Pirates will return to action on Friday, Nov. 3 when they travel to Villanova. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
