BRIDGEPORT, W.VA. – Junior Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) is currently 2-under-par through nearly two rounds and has the Seton Hall men's golf team in ninth place at The Health Plan Mountaineer Intercollegiate.
The field finished the first round, but the second round was halted due to darkness. Round two will be completed before round three begins on Tuesday. Seton Hall is nearly done with the second round as most of the Pirates are on holes 16 or 17.
Yeom used three birdies to fuel a 1-over-par, 73, in round one, but he's been even more impressive so far in round two. With two holes to play, he is 2-under-par in round two, bolstered by an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole. At 1-under-par for the tournament, Yeom trails the individual leader, Akron's George Baylis by four strokes. Yeom is currently tied for sixth place overall.
Collectively, the Pirates shot a 13-over-par, 301, in the first round, but are even-par so far in round two. For the tournament, they trail the team leader, Rutgers, by 13 strokes.
Junior Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) shot a 2-over-par, 74, in the first round, but is 1-under-par through 16 holes in round two. Back-to-back birdies on holes No. 11 & No. 12 have him in prime position for his 17th career sub-par round.
Freshman Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) shot a 7-over-par, 79, in round one, but is poised to improve vastly in round two. Through 17 holes, Tait is 3-under-par. He has five birdies in the round, including birdies in four of his first six holes.
Senior Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) fired a 4-over-par, 76, in round one. Through 16 holes, he is 6-over-par so far in round two.
Sophomore Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) shot a 6-over-par, 78, in round one. He is currently 14-over-par in round two.
