NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall women's golfer Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) was one of five featured student-athlete panelists during the Learfield Intercollegiate Athletics Forum on Wednesday.
The two-day event, held at the Crown Plaza Times Square Hotel in Manhattan, the Forum provides an "insider's view" by offering first-hand insights from those directly shaping the future of intercollegiate athletics. The Forum's speaker faculty consists of top industry executives who are on the front lines of college sports business, tackling the critical issues, negotiating the unprecedented deals and making the decisions that drive growth.
"The Intercollegiate Athletics Forum was an incredible experience to attend," Pantelas said. "It brought individuals together from all different realms of athletics to create discussion of today's athletics environment across the country. I was fortunate enough to be part of a panel of student-athletes where we were able to provide a better understanding of the student-athlete experience."
Pantelas was featured on the panel, "The Student-Athlete Perspective on the State of Intercollegiate Athletics." Moderated by award-winning journalist Jack Ford, she was joined by Oklahoma gymnastics team member Chayse Capps, Northwestern football player Justin Jackson, Oklahoma State football player Brad Lundblade and Arkansas State football player Blaise Taylor.
"I am honored to have represented Seton Hall and my fellow student-athletes at such a prestigious event," Pantelas said.
On the course, Pantelas is a two-time All-BIG EAST selection and twice was named to the conference's All-Tournament Team. Last spring, she tied for second at the BIG EAST Championship at Callawassie Island Golf Club in North Carolina. In the classroom, she is a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and a three-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America scholar.
Pantelas earned the BIG EAST Sports Excellence Award for the sport of women's golf for the 2016-17 academic year.
