Pirates Dealt Hard-Fought Setback at Navy

Annapolis, Md. – The Seton Hall women's tennis team continuously battled back on Saturday morning and evened the match on two occasions, but ultimately fell at Navy, 4-3.
The Pirates (4-3) trailed 1-0 in doubles before sophomore Thandy Kangwa (Fort Myers, Fla.) and junior Katie Kim (Honolulu, Hawaii) evened it up with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 flight over Rico and Dervishian. Next, junior Luize Strike (Riga, Latvia) and sophomore Anna Fajnorova (Bratislava, Slovakia) paired for a thrilling 7-6 (4) victory at the No. 1 spot to secure the doubles point.
Navy (8-7) won the first two singles matchups to take a 2-1 lead, but Fajnorova responded with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles to even the match at 2-2.
Kim completed a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 comeback at No. 5 singles, but Navy had won the previous two singles points to secure the match.
Up next, The Hall heads out west for two games in California beginning with a 3 p.m. match at Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, March 5. The following Wednesday, the Pirates take on Utah State at 10 a.m. in Los Angeles.
