
Kness, Pirates in Sixth Place After 2 Rounds

PRINCETON, N.J. – Freshman Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) is tied for seventh place overall and has led the Seton Hall women's golf team to a sixth place team standing after two rounds of the Princeton Invitational.
Kness shot a 6-over-par, 78, in round one, but improved five strokes in round two. She had just two bogeys in her second round to go with 15 pars and a birdie on the fourth hole. The 73 is the career-low for the freshman. With 18 holes remaining, Kness is tied for seventh place with a 7-over-par, 78-73-151. She trails the individual leader, Georgetown's Jackie Eleey, by nine strokes.
Collectively, the Pirates also improved mightily in round two. After a first round 316, The Hall shaved off 10 strokes in round two to settle with an 18-over-par, 306. Entering Sunday's final round, Seton Hall is 46-over-par with a 316-306-622. The Pirates trail the team leader, Georgetown, by 13 strokes.
Sophomore Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) started her Saturday with a 4-over-par, 76, and finished it with a 6-over-par, 78. She is currently tied for 18th place overall with a 10-over-par, 76-78-154.
Senior Macky Fouse (Aliquippa, Pa.) had four birdies on the day and fired a pair of 7-over-par, 79's. For the tournament, she is tied for 33rd place with a 14-over-par, 79-79-158.
Sophomore Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.), the BIG EAST Women's Golfer of the Week, is currently tied for 48th place following an 18-over-par, 86-76-162. Classmate Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) is only one stroke behind Sager at 19-over-par with an 83-80-163.
Competing as an individual, senior Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) is tied for 23rd place overall at 12-over-par with a 77-79-156.

The Course:
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members. With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the small field is comprised of eight other teams including: Columbia, Dartmouth, Delaware, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Rollins and Yale. BIG EAST rival Georgetown is also a part of the Princeton Invitational field.
Tee Times:
The field will play two rounds (36 holes) on Saturday, with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. The Pirates will be paired with golfers from Columbia and Delaware in the first two rounds and will tee off on the 10th hole. A single, final round on will be played on Sunday.
