Pirates Tie Lynn in South Florida Showdown

BOCA RATON, FLA. – The Seton Hall men's golf team opened the 2018 Spring season on Saturday with a draw, 3-3-1, against host Lynn University in the South Florida Showdown.
The Pirates brought their entire seven-man roster to compete in the event against seven of Lynn's top competitors in a match-play format.
Seton Hall earned head-to-head victories with Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.), Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) and Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas). Freshman Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) tied in his match, leading to the tie in the overall competition.
In a battle of No. 1 golfers, Yeom edged Lynn's Toto Grana, 1 UP. Yip rallied to defeat Chandler McDowell, 2 UP, while Acevedo trailed by a hole with two to go, and won both to pick up the come-from-behind 1 UP victory.
Tait had five birdies in the back nine, and was leading by one entering the final hole, but his competitor, Jorge Villar was able to win No. 18 to force the tie.
Junior Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) lost a close match to Manuel Torres. Nagai trailed by three holes early, but rallied late. He had a chance to tie the match on the 18th hole, but ultimately fell, 1 UP.
Both Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) and Alex McAuley (Douglas, Isle of Man) fell 2 & 1 respectively to their opponents.
