NEW YORK – Seton Hall junior Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) was named BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week on Thursday.
A day after shooting par or better on all 36 holes at the Loyola Intercollegiate, Yeom completed his historic tournament with a 4-under-par, 68, in the final round. The junior registered six birdies on the afternoon, and two bogeys, his only two of the entire tournament. For the event, he placed sixth with a Seton Hall record-breaking 13-under-par, 66-69-68-203. His 203 broke Lloyd Jefferson Go's par-72, three-round score of 205 set just last spring at the same event. Furthermore, Yeom's 13-under-par score tied former Pirate Kyle Morris for the most strokes under for any par in a single tournament. Morris set the record at the Treasure Coast Classic nearly 11 years ago.
It's Yeom's fourth sub-par tournament of the year, after not having registered a single sub-par tournament as a freshman or sophomore. Additionally, five of his six tournament rounds so far this spring have been under-par.
Yeom and the rest of the Pirates will return to the links March 25-27 for three rounds of golf at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va.
