Pirates Deliver Weekend Sweep of Hofstra, DePaul

Florham Park, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's tennis team closed out its non-conference slate with a 6-1 victory over Hofstra on Friday, before delivering a 4-3 victory over DePaul in the BIG EAST opener on Saturday at CenterCourt Sports.
The win over reigning BIG EAST champion DePaul, was the first for the program in at least the last five seasons.
On Friday, senior Luize Strike (Riga, Latvia) and junior Anicka Fajnorova (Bratislava, Slovakia) set the tone off the bat with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles. Strike later registered a 6-1, 6-3 win at the top singles flight, and Fajnorova picked up a 6-0, 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot.
Against the Blue Demons on Saturday, Strike and Fajnorova clinched the doubles point at the top flight with a 6-2 victory over Lancranjan and Avgeri.
Sophomore Melody Taal (Ede, Netherlands) picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 3 singles position, Fajnorova won at the second flight, and a forfeit at the No. 6 flight clinched the victory for Seton Hall.
Up next, the Pirates travel to Queens, N.Y. to take on St. John's on Friday, April 6 at 12 p.m.
