Yeom Named to All-BIG EAST First Team

CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Junior Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team on Friday.
It's the second straight year Yeom has been honored by the conference. He was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team in 2017.
A year after losing Lloyd Jefferson Go, one of the program's all-time greats, the Seton Hall men's golf team hasn't missed a step because of the maturation and emergence of Chris Yeom. Named BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week three times this year, he shaved more than two full strokes off his scoring average from a year ago, and currently leads the BIG EAST Conference with a 71.62 average.
After finishing a tournament under par just once prior to his junior year, he has done it five times in 10 tournaments in 2017-18. Yeom has seven top-10 finishes and three top-5 finishes this year and eight of his 14 rounds this spring have been under par.
Yeom's crowning moment of the year so far was a historic 13-under-par, 66-69-68-203 at the Loyola Invitational earlier this spring. His 203 broke Go's par-72, three-round record score of 205 set just last spring at the same event. Furthermore, Yeom's 13-under-par score tied the Pirate mark for the most strokes under for any par in a single tournament.
Most recently, Yeom was named Seton Hall's Junior Male Co-Athlete of the Year.
Yeom and the Pirates will take on the rest of the conference at the BIG EAST Championship this week in Callawassie Island, S.C.
