
Chalk, Yeom Leading Hall After Round 1 at Villanova

MALVERN, PA. – Senior Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) and junior Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) each shot a 2-over-par, 73, to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a fifth place standing after round one of the Villanova Invitational on Friday.
Yeom started the day with back-to-back bogeys, but ended the round with 16 straight pars. Chalk had three birdies. Both golfers are tied for 13th place overall.
Collectively, the Pirates are 12-over-par after a first round, 296. Appalachian State leads the field at 1-over-par. Three other BIG EAST schools are also in the field. Georgetown is currently third, six strokes ahead of The Hall, while St. John's is fourth, four strokes better than the Pirates. Host Villanova is currently 21-over-par.
Senior Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) had a tough start to his round, but finished the day by shooting 2-under-par over the final 13 holes. He is currently 3-over-par after a first round, 74.
Sophomore Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) and freshman Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) each shot a 5-over-par, 76, in round one.
Sophomore Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas), competing as an individual, had the best round of the day for the Pirates, a 1-over-par, 72. Acevedo is currently tied for eighth place among all individual golfers.
