South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's swimming & diving team fell on the road at Yale on Saturday, 245.5-54.5, before bouncing back win a 184-114 victory over a talented Fairfield squad inside Richie Regan Rec Center on Sunday.
Against Fairfield, seven different Pirates won an individual event and two different relays took first. Junior Theresa Hutton (Stony Point, N.Y.) won both the 100 back (58.89) and the 200 back (2:07.34), and junior Sara Ouellette (Granby, Conn.) doubled up with wins in the 200 (1:55.37) and 500 free (5:07.72).
Against Yale, Hutton finished in a tie for second in the 100 back with a time of 58.80. Freshman Heidi Dickson (Greenwich, N.J.) placed third in the 200 fly after touching the wall in 2:11.11. Sophomore Alexa Kolodgie (Baltimore, Md.) finished third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:23.85.
Senior Courtney McCardle (Hurley, N.Y.) picked up third in the 50 free (24.63) and third in the 100 free (53.10). Ouellette swam a 10:32.77 in the 1000 free, good for third place.
"Both the men and the women responded with great swims today against Fairfield," said head coach Derek Sapp. "Coming off of our training trip, everyone has been working very hard and it definitely showed today. Competing in back-to-back meets is very difficult, but it is something that helps us prepare for a multi-ay meet like the BIG EAST Championship."
Looking ahead, the Pirates will take on Monmouth in a dual meet on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. in West Long Branch.
