SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Head coach Natalie Desjardins announced the 2020 Seton Hall women's golf spring schedule on Tuesday. The Pirates will participate in six tournaments this spring.
Â
Seton Hall will open the spring season with a new tournament, the FAU Winter Warm-Up at Osprey Point Golf Course in Boca Raton, Fla. The event, hosted by Florida Atlantic University, will take place February 10-11.
Â
Less than two weeks later, the Pirates will take on the Rio Verde Invitational for a sixth straight year at Rio Verde Country Club in Arizona, Feb. 21-23. Last spring, the Pirates finished second with a 26-over-par, 302-292-594. Seton Hall had two Pirates record top-10 finishes with Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) and Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) tying for eighth place overall. The Pirates won this event in 2015 and 2018.
Â
After a two-week break from tournament play, The Hall will return to the course for another new event, the UNF Collegiate, March 9-10. Hosted by the University of North Florida, the three-round tournament will take place at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
Â
At the end of the month, the Pirates will play three rounds of golf at the William & Mary Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va., March 30-31. Last year, Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) became only the second golfer in Seton Hall women's golf history to win two individual tournament titles, firing a 2-over-par, 71-74-73-218, to win the event by six strokes over High Point's Sarah Kahn. As a team, the Pirates also took home a title with a 54-over-par, 301-313-304-918, to best second place High Point by 10 strokes.
Â
The Pirates will take on the Jan Weaver Invitational, April 10-11, at Miller Memorial Golf Club in Murray, Ky. The new event is hosted by Murray State University.
Â
Finally, the Pirates will return to Callawassie Golf Club in Callawassie Island, S.C., April 24-26 for the annual BIG EAST Conference Championship. It's the fifth straight year that the conference's marquee event is at Callawassie. Last spring, the Pirates placed third with a 54-over-par, 311-303-304-918. Win, Ronchel Salas and Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) all notched top-four finishes and thus earned All-Tournament recognition. Win was the tournament runner-up with a 9-over-par, 74-73-78-225.
Â
The Pirates will be seeking their fourth BIG EAST Championship since the program started prior to the 2010-11 season, and their second at Callawassie. Even though The Hall won the BIG EAST title in 2016 at Callawassie, their best team performance at the resort resulted last season.
