Samuels Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall senior Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.

Samuels continues to improve since returning from injury earlier this year. In only 23 minutes against Lafayette on Friday, the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year scored a game-high 19 points on an efficient 7-for-8 shooting. She also tied for the team high with eight rebounds and four assists. Her four steals led all players.

Villanova's Maddy Siegrist earned both BIG EAST Player and Freshman of the Week honors. In addition to Samuels, members of the Weekly Honor Roll include Butler's Kristen Spolyar, Creighton's Olivia Elger, DePaul's Chante Stonewall, St. John's Leilani Correa and Xavier's A'riana Gray.

With all non-conference games now behind them, the Pirates will return to action on Sunday, December 29 to open the BIG EAST portion of their schedule in Indianapolis against Butler. The game will be a BIG EAST Digital Network broadcast, and of course will be provided on the radio by 89.5 FM WSOU and wsou.net. Tip-time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
