
Yeom, Pirates Finish 10th at UNCG Collegiate

PALM CITY, FLA. – Senior Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) and sophomore Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) each fired an even-par, 72, in Tuesday's final round to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a 10th place finish at the 2019 UNCG / Martin Downs Collegiate.
Yeom birdied hole No. 16 and eagled No. 17 in route to his best round of the tournament. He finished the three-round event as the top Pirate performer, tied for 28th place among 92 individual golfers. Yeom shot a 4-over-par, 74-74-72-220. UNCG's Nick Lyerly won the individual title at 9-under-par.
Tait saved his best round for Tuesday as well. The sophomore had three birdies, three bogeys and 12 pars in round three. For the tournament, he tied for 49th place with an 11-over-par, 80-75-72-227.
For a second straight day, the Pirates improved as a team. The Hall fired a 5-over-par, 293, on Tuesday, shaving two strokes off yesterday's score. For the three-day event, Seton Hall placed 10th with a 34-over-par, 310-295-293-898. Host UNCG ran away with the team title, finishing at 14-under-par. Villanova, Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition in the field, finished 12th, a distant 19 strokes behind the Pirates.
Senior Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) finished only one stroke behind Yeom and Tait on Tuesday, using three birdies to shoot a 1-over-par, 73. Nagai tied for 33rd place with a 5-over-par, 75-73-73-221.
One of the players tied with Nagai for 33rd place was freshman Peter Tyler Po (Nasipit Cebu City, Philippines), who was participating as an individual. Po was consistently excellent today, riding a team-best 16 pars to a 2-over-par, 74. For the tournament, he was 5-over-par with a 72-75-74-221, his career-best tournament score.
Sophomore Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) had a perfect back nine on Tuesday to fuel a 5-over-par, 77. For the tournament, he was 15-over-par with an 81-73-77-231.
Freshman Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) finished the first tournament of the spring with a 4-over-par, 76. He had four bogeys and 14 pars in a solid final round. For the tournament, Ramachandran was 18-over-par with an 83-75-76-234.
In addition to Po, junior Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) also was competing in the tournament as an individual. On Tuesday, he fired a 5-over-par, 77. For the three-round event, he finished with an 11-over-par, 77-73-77-227.
