
Nagai Leads Pirates in Round One at Loyola Invite

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. – Senior Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) fired a 1-under-par, 71, to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a seventh place team standing after round one of the Loyola Invitational on Saturday.
Nagai had three birdies and two eagles to fuel his team-best round. He took full advantage of the course's par-5 holes, shooting 6-under-par over the four par-5 holes. Entering Sunday's second round, Nagai is tied for 10th place among 100 individual golfers. He trails the individual leader, Loyola's Evan brown by four strokes.
Collectively, Seton Hall fired a 5-over-par, 293, in round one. The Pirates trail the team leader, Elon, by 11 strokes entering the second round. BIG EAST competitor Xavier is currently in fourth place, two strokes ahead of the Pirates. DePaul is in 15th place 10 strokes behind The Hall.
Sophomore Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) used four birdies in route to an even-par, 72, on Saturday. Tait is tied for 18th overall.
Only one stroke behind Tait, freshman Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) had three birdies and four bogeys to finish with a 1-over-par, 73.
Sophomore Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) used four birdies to shoot a 5-over-par, 77, in round one, while freshman Peter Tyler Po (Nasipit Cebu City, Philippines) is 7-over-par with a 79.
Competing as an individual, junior Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) fired a first-round 6-over-par, 78.

Additionally, BIG EAST opponents DePaul and Xavier are also in the field.

Seton Hall will begin round one with tee times beginning at 12:45 pm ET off the 10th tee. The Pirates will be paired with golfers from Loyola, Gonzaga and Air Force.
