INDIANAPOLIS - Former Seton Hall men's basketball legend Angel Delgado (Bajos De Haina, Dominican Republic) made his NBA debut on Thursday, Feb. 7, posting a box score line of three points, four rebounds and one steal in 14 minutes of action for the Los Angeles Clippers in a 116-92 loss to the host Indiana Pacers.
Delgado, who signed a two-way contract the Clippers back in June 2018, scores his first NBA points on a driving layup to the basket with 2:37 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Â
Delgado earned the call-up to the Clippers after dominating in the G-League for the Agua Caliente Clippers, where he was averaging 17.4 points and a league-leading 14.6 rebounds per game. On Jan. 4, he set the G-League record for most rebounds in a single game with 31.
Delgado graduated from Seton Hall in May 2018 after an illustrious four-year career that saw him finish with 1,593 points, 16th in program history, and 1,455 rebounds, second-most in program history. He was a two-time All-BIG EAST selection, two-time All-America honorable mention, the 2017 Met Writers Haggerty Award Metropolitan Player of the Year and the 2018 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award National Center of the Year.Â
Since the creation of NCAA divisions in 1973, Delgado racked up the 7th most career rebounds of any Div. I student-athlete and his 72 career double-doubles rank 16th all-time in NCAA history.
