
Win, Pirates in Contention with 18 Holes Left

CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Junior Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) led the Pirates for a second straight round with a 1-over-par, 73, to fuel the Seton Hall women's golf team to a third place team standing entering Sunday's final round.
Win finished her abbreviated first round with three pars and a birdie on the 18th hole to finish with a 2-over-par, 73, and claim the individual lead after round one. In round two, she had five birdies and was 2-under-par through 17 holes until a 3-over-par, 7, on hole No. 18 finished her round on a sour note. Still, Win shaved a stroke off her first round score, finishing with a 1-over-par, 73.
Through two rounds, Win is in second place with a 74-73-147. She trails Xavier's Makayla Fitzpatrick by four strokes with 18 holes to play. Fitzpatrick fired a 4-under-par, 68, in round two to take the lead.
As a team, the Pirates shaved 10 strokes off their first round score, but dropped to third place in the team standings. Through two rounds, they are 38-over-par with a 311-303-614. It's a three-team race with Xavier at 28-over-par and Georgetown at 35-over-par. Fourth place Creighton is a distant 28 strokes behind The Hall.
Both Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) and Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) improved in round two and shot a 3-over-par, 75. Ronchel Salas had a tough start, but shot 1-under-par over the final 11 holes, including birdies on holes No. 15 and No. 17. Through two rounds, she is in eighth place with a 10-over-par, 79-75-154. Sager similarly had a strong finish to her second round. The junior was 1-under-par over her final 10 holes, including birdies on No. 11 and No. 18. For the tournament, she's just one stroke behind Ronchel Salas and is tied for ninth with an 80-75-155.
Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) shaved 10 strokes off her first round score to finish with an 8-over-par, 80 in round two. Through two rounds, she is 26-over-par with a 90-80-170.
Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) rounded out the Pirates lineup in round two with a 9-over-par, 81. The sophomore just outside the top-10 in a tie for 13th place with a 15-over-par, 78-81-159, with 18 holes left to play.

Designing Callawassie Island's award-winning championship 27-hole course, Tom Fazio took advantage of the island's natural beauty to create a juxtaposition of visual drama and superb playability. Magnificent live oaks and magnolias, as well as freshwater ponds and the surrounding saltwater marsh, come into play on most holes. Inspiring vistas and abundant wildlife make nature part of the golf experience.

For the BIG EAST Championship, the field is limited to only the six women's golf teams of the conference. This includes (in order of Golfstat ranking):, Seton Hall (98), Xavier (104), Georgetown (130), St. John's (196), Butler (220) and Creighton (234).
Tee Times:
The Pirates will once again be paired with golfers from Xavier and Georgetown for Sunday's final round. Fouratt will get the Pirates started at 8:50 a.m. off the first tee of the Dogwood course. Each Pirate will follow in increments of 10 minutes thereafter.
