CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) fired a 2-under-par, 70, to shoot up the individual leader board and power the Seton Hall men's golf team in round two of the 2019 BIG EAST Championship on Saturday.
Â
Yeom put forth the top round of the tournament so far for the Pirates, using three birdies and 14 pars to fuel a 2-under-par score. Entering Sunday's final round, he's in fourth place overall with a 2-over-par, 76-70-146. He trails the individual leader, DePaul's Charlie Spencer White by four strokes with 18 holes to play.
Â
Collectively, Seton Hall shot 14 strokes better in Saturday's second round, but unfortunately for them, much of the rest of the field did too.  The Hall moved up one spot in the team standings to fifth place with a 9-over-par, 297. The Pirates trail the team leader, Marquette, by 17 strokes entering round three. DePaul is currently in second place four strokes behind the Golden Eagles, and Creighton is third at 23-over-par.
Â
Sophomore Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) had the largest improvement of any individual Pirate from round one to round two. After an uncharacteristic 12-over-par, 84, yesterday, he fired an even-par, 72, today, fueled by four birdies, including three consecutive on holes 6-through-8. Tait is 12 strokes over par for the tournament and has moved into a tie for 28th place.
Â
Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) was even-par on the front nine today in route to a 5-over-par, 77, in round two. For the tournament, the sophomore is tied for 24th place with an 11-over-par, 78-77-155.
Â
Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) was a stroke better on day two. The freshman shot a 6-over-par, 78, and is currently in 31st place for the tournament with a 13-over-par, 79-78-157.
Â
Senior Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) rounded out the Pirates' lineup on Saturday with an 11-over-par, 83. Through two rounds, he is tied for 34th place with a 17-over-par, 78-83-161.
