South Orange, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's basketball team is headed to Europe this summer! The Pirates will be taking a 10-day foreign tour of Italy August 7-16 and will compete against three Italian Select teams as they gear up for the 2019-20 season.
"A foreign tour is a great opportunity for our guys to not only get extra practice and competition time, but also for them to learn about another culture and way of life that is different from their own," Seton Hall head coach Kevin Willard said. "The trip also will be a great time for our team to bond on and off the court as we prepare for the college basketball season."
Seton Hall will be visiting three of the world's most historic cities, beginning with Venice, followed by Florence and then ending in Rome. The Pirates will receive guided tours of each city to learn about the history and culture.
The Pirates' three exhibition contests against Italian Select clubs will include an August 9 game in Vincenza, approximately 45 miles outside of Venice, an August 11 game in Pisa, approximately 53 miles outside of Florence, and an August 14 game in Frascati, which is about 18 miles outside of Rome.
Pegged as a favorite to be nationally ranked in the preseason, the 2019-20 Pirates will return 11 of 12 letterwinners from last season's team that produced the program's fourth straight 20-win season, BIG EAST third-place finish and NCAA Tournament bid. Seton Hall is led by rising senior Myles Powell, who dominated as a junior with an average of 23.1 points per game en route to All-America honorable mention, Haggerty Award Metropolitan Player of the Year and unanimous first-team All-BIG EAST honors.
