Pirates Finish Italy Trip 2-0

Frascati, Italy – The Seton Hall men's basketball completed the competition portion of its foreign tour to Italy undefeated after dispatching the Peak Warriors, 108-49, Wednesday evening. Combined with an 83-54 win over Da Ground in Pisa this past Sunday, the Pirates finished 2-0. The team will enjoy one more day of sightseeing in Rome before traveling home on Friday.

Rising junior Sandro Mamukelashvili (Tbilisi, Georgia) was Seton Hall's leading scorer on the trip, averaging 19.0 points over the two games. He had a game-high 21 points against Da Ground and then tied classmate Myles Cale (Middletown, Del.) for the team lead against Peak Warriors with 17 points. Cale was the team's second-leading scorer at 13.0 points over the two contests.

All-America rising senior Myles Powell (Trenton, N.J.) was held out of competition in Italy after a very busy summer that included working out for NBA teams, serving as a counselor at Chris Paul's CP3 Elite Guard Camp and playing for Team USA at the Pan Am Games and earning the Bronze medal.

Led by 10th year head coach Kevin Willard, Seton Hall is primed to make national noise in 2019-20. The Pirates are a trendy preseason top-15 pick as they return 88 percent of their scoring from last season and bring back Powell, who averaged 23.1 points per game, scored the most points in Seton Hall's BIG EAST history and broke the program's single-season three-pointers made record. The Pirates, a 20-win program in each of the last four seasons, are in search of an unprecedented fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and they are currently one of only 13 programs in Div. I to have made each of the last four NCAAs (2016-19).
