Lima, Peru - Seton Hall men's basketball stars Myles Powell (Trenton, N.J.) and Myles Cale (Middletown, Del.) and head coach Kevin Willard were part of the BIG EAST Conference contingent that went to the 2019 Pan Am Games and secured a bronze medal for Team USA after a 92-83 win over the Dominican Republic Sunday night.Â
The Seton Hall trio were part of a squad made up of only BIG EAST student-athletes after the U.S. Olympic Committee selected the conference to represent Team USA at the Pan Am Games. This was the first time representing the United States for all three. Powell concluded the tournament averaging 14.6 points per game and put on a clinic during pool play against Venezuela, scoring 30 points on 12-of-18 shooting in a 70-53 victory. The 30 points were easily the most anyone on Team USA scored in the five-game tournament. Cale came off the bench for Team USA and averaged 3.4 points. He scored nine points in a pool-play rout of the U.S. Virgin Islands, 119-84. Willard served as an assistant to Team USA and Providence head coach Ed Cooley.
Seton Hall's bronze medalists return home on Monday and will then prepare to head to Europe along with the rest of the Pirates for their summer tour of Italy, which includes three exhibition games against Italian select teams.
