Two thousand points in college basketball is quite the achievement. Think about it: you have to be good, you have to be healthy and you have to have a little luck.
It's no wonder that there were only four Seton Hall Pirates in 116 years to reach 2,000 career points...until Myles Powell became the fifth this past Saturday.
The milestone will be recognized prior to Wednesday's Seton Hall vs. Providence game, but Powell has so much more to go. He's fifth all-time, but he's got his eyes set on spots four through one, starting with four:
Greg Tynes was an unreal scorer for Seton Hall in the late 1970s, and he was gracious enough to reach out to Seton Hall and ask if he could come congratulate Myles personally. Now he'll be sitting in the stands the next two games as Myles is only 38Â points away from passing him.
Â
We had Pirate royalty in the house today! Thanks to Greg Tynes (1974-78, 2,059 points) for stopping by to say hello to the team & congratulate @Myles_MBP_23 (2,022 points), who is about to pass him in scoring! #HALLin pic.twitter.com/1aWU0VrReM

It was really nice of Greg to do what he did. It's the Pirate Way.
Wednesday's game will air on FS1 with Brian Custer and Sarah Kustok on the call. Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin are the radio narrators for the game on WMCA 570 AM, simulcast on XM 381 and the Pirate Sports Network.

Three Things to Know About Wednesday's Battle With Providence
 1. Second Chance Opportunities Will Be Key
Providence is only shooting 45.1 percent on its two-point tries this season. But the Friars also have a top-50 offensive rebound percentage and averaging 13.6 per game. So they can make up for their shooting woes by generating second chance points. Seton Hall has to rebound the basketball efficiently enough to force Providence to one-and-done.Â
Â
2. The Friars Won't Fear the Road
Providence already has road wins over DePaul and Marquette and nearly pulled off a third at Creighton last weekend. All three environments were tough to play in, so these Friars are battle tested. The Pirates are not going to want to go into halftime trailing this team because the Friars are very capable in crunch time.
 Â
3. Protect the Basketball
For the second straight game, Seton Hall is facing a team that generates a lot of steals. Providence's 13.0 steal percentage is 10th best in the nation and its 9.2 steals per game is third in the BIG EAST. The Pirates committed 15 turnovers in the first half against St. John's and committed 41 turnovers against Providence in two meetings last season. They have to secure the basketball the way they did in the second half against St. John's when they had only four giveaways.Â
