South Orange, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's basketball team has 10 games set in its 2020-21 schedule, presented by RWJ Barnabas Health. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the remainder of the schedule is still to be determined, and all dates and times listed on this schedule are subject to change.
Â
The five-game, non-conference portion of the reigning BIG EAST regular season champion's schedule features four games against teams that finished in the KenPom top-65 last season.
Â
The Pirates open up at Louisville on Friday, Nov. 27 as part of the Wade Houston Tipoff Classic at 4 p.m., on ESPN2. They'll be facing a Cardinals team that finished second in the ACC last season with a 15-5 mark. The Pirates won their previous visit to the KFC Yum! Center, a 79-77 victory on Dec. 3, 2017.
Â
Seton Hall's first home game at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., takes place on Sunday, Nov. 29 when the Pirates welcome No. 2-ranked Baylor to The Rock in a Big 12-BIG EAST Battle game that will tip off at 4:30 p.m., on FS1. It will mark the ninth time in program history that a top-two ranked team will visit the Pirates and first since 2017. The Bears are coming off a 26-4 campaign and finished second in the Big 12 at 15-3.
Â
The Pirates will take a pair of bus rides during the first week of December, first visiting Rhode Island on Wednesday, Dec. 2 in a CBS Sports Network telecast. The Rams went 21-9 overall and 13-5 in the Atlantic 10 last season. Then on Sunday, Dec. 6, The Hall will head to State College, Pa., to face Penn State, which had a 21-10 record last season and finished tied for fifth in the Big Ten at 11-9.
Â
Seton Hall will then host Wagner on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Prudential Center at 5 p.m., on FS1. It marks the fourth straight year that the Pirates will take on the Seahawks.
Â
The Pirates will open BIG EAST play on Friday, Dec. 11 at home against DePaul (4:30 p.m., CBS Sports Network), the second straight year that The Hall starts conference play against the Blue Demons. Then the Pirates will travel to the Midwest for games against Xavier on Dec. 15 (8 p.m., FS1) and Marquette on Dec. 17 (9 p.m., FS1). Seton Hall's December conference schedule then wraps up with home contests against Providence (Dec. 20, 4:30 p.m., FS1) and Georgetown (Dec. 23, 5 p.m., FS1).
Â
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, no fans will be in attendance for Seton Hall's five home games at Prudential Center in November and December. The department continues to monitor the landscape and will make decisions in alignment with state and local guidelines while prioritizing the health and safety of the entire Seton Hall community.
Â
The Pirates – who were picked to finish fifth in the 11-team BIG EAST by the league's head coaches – return 44 percent of their scoring, 63 percent of their rebounding and 50 percent of their threes made from last season's conference championship squad, led by preseason All-BIG EAST selection senior Sandro Mamukelashvili (Tbilisi, Georgia). They also gain the services of sit-out transfer Takal Molson (Buffalo, N.Y) and coveted graduate transfer Bryce Aiken (Randolph, N.J.), who have combined to score over 2,000 career points at the Div. I level. Seton Hall is primed to continue its string of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, 20-win seasons and top-three conference finishes.
