NEWARK, N.J. - The Pirates are playing well right now, winners of four in a row, and they are looking to carry the momentum back into Prudential Center Sunday afternoon when they host Providence in BIG EAST action. Seton Hall is seeking a 3-0 start to conference play for only the fifth time in program history. Meanwhile Providence is making its BIG EAST season debut after enduring three postponements in the last 10 days.
The Pirates have been looking much better at the free throw line than at the start of the season. After averaging only 65.8 percent at the line in the first five games, the Pirates are averaging 79.5 percent at the line over the last three games, including 15-for-18 at Marquette Thursday night.
The Pirates will have to contend with one of the top all-around guards in the BIG EAST in David Duke, who already was one of the league's best defenders and is now third in the conference in scoring at 19.7 points per game. He and Nate Watson, who is fifth in the conference at 18.7 points per game, have formed a lethal inside-outside combo.
The Pirates and Friars will tip off at 4:30 p.m., on FS1 with Brian Custer and Donny Marshall on the call. As always, the soothing sounds of Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin dropping play-by-play and knowledge will be available on AM970 The Answer, simulcast on XM 388, the Pirate Sports Network and TuneIn.
