
All Five Pirates Shoot Under Par in Round 2 at Loyola

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. – All five Pirates shot under par in Sunday's second round as the Seton Hall men's golf team shot up the leader board to a third place standing with 18 holes remaining at the 2020 Loyola Intercollegiate.
In a round strewn with superlatives up and down the Pirates' lineup, Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) stood out with a 3-under-par, 69. The freshman had a team-best six birdies on Sunday and is currently tied for 16th place overall at 1-under-par with a 74-69-143.

As a team, The Hall turned it its best single round of the 2019-20 academic year. The Pirates fired a 7-under-par, 281, which is tied for the fourth-lowest par-72 score in program history. Through two days, they're in third place with a 5-under-par, 290-281-571. Drake is the team leader and leads the Pirates by three strokes entering Monday's final round.

The top Pirate through two rounds continues to be Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland). The senior used four birdies and two pars to fire a second consecutive 2-under-par, 70. Through two rounds, he's tied for fifth place among 112 individual golfers with a 4-under-par, 70-70-140. Chalk trails a pair of leaders, Air Force's Joseph Crisostomo and Delaware's Roberto Nieves, by two strokes with 18 holes remaining.

Junior Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) has also been highly consistent through two rounds. He had five birdies on Sunday for his second straight 1-under-par, 71. After 36 holes, Acevedo tied for 11th place with a 2-under-par, 71-71-142.Â

Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) and Peter Tyler Po (Nasipit Cebu City, Philippines) each also shot a 1-under-par, 71, in round two. Tait had five birdies in a strong 18 holes today, while Po used 13 pars to fuel his sub-par round. Through two days, Tait is tied for 36th with a 2-over-par, 75-71-146, while Po is tied for 45th, only one stroke behind with a 3-over-par, 76-71-147.

Competing as an individual, Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) also improved in round two, using four birdies on the front nine to fuel a 1-over-par, 73. For the tournament, he is tied for 68th place with a 6-over-par, 77-73-150.
