Acevedo Wins Texas Amateur Qualifier

LUFKIN, TEXAS – Seton Hall men's golf rising senior Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) bested 30 golfers on July 8 at Crown Colony Country Club to win a qualifying event for the 111th Texas Amateur.

Acevedo's victory guarantees him a spot in the premier amateur event to be held at Boot Range in Fredericksburg, Texas, August 6-9. The Texas Amateur was originally scheduled to be held June 18-21, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Acevedo secured one of three qualifying spots up for grabs at Crown Colony. The San Antonio native led the field with an even-par, 72, bogeying holes No. 15 and 17, but birdying No. 2 and No. 16.
