South Orange, N.J. – The Beefsteak Tip-Off Dinner has been the unofficial start to the Seton Hall basketball season for 11 years running, and the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund was determined to make sure the COVID-19 pandemic would not cancel the 12th edition. The department is happy to announce that the 2020 Pirate Blue Beefsteak Tip-Off Dinner will take place on Thursday, October 29 in a hybrid event that will occur both virtually and inside historic Walsh Gymnasium. Registration is now live online at SHU.edu/beefsteak.
The virtual portion of this year's Beefsteak will feature a live-streamed program emanating from Walsh Gymnasium paired with an option of either receiving a mailed Omaha Steaks package or receiving a hot-meal delivery from Gourmet Dining Services on the night of the Beefsteak (limited to homes within a one-hour radius of Seton Hall's South Orange campus).
The in-person portion of the evening will feature a limited amount of socially distanced All-Access VIP Sponsorship tables inside Walsh Gymnasium. Basketball head coaches Tony Bozzella and Kevin Willard and Director of Athletics Bryan Felt will be in attendance.
As is tradition with the Beefsteak, there will also be a silent auction that will last approximately a week and will close at the end of the Beefsteak program on the 29th.Â
Now in its 12th year, the annual Beefsteak Tip-Off Dinner serves not only as the start of Seton Hall basketball season, but also as a critical fundraiser for the program's operations. The investment in Seton Hall basketball from loyal Pirate Blue members has resulted in sustained success on the court and in the classroom and the development of student-athletes into college graduates.
