
Seton Hall Leads by Four Strokes Entering Monday's Final Round

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Three Pirates are currently in the top-10 and the Seton Hall men's golf team are the leaders in the clubhouse after two rounds at the 2021 Daniel Invitational.

Seton Hall was clearly the top team in a very talented field all day. The Pirates had back-to-back 6-under-par, 282, scores and currently lead the field by four strokes. Florida State is in second place at 8-under-par.

Three Pirates are tied for sixth place and enter Monday's final round trailing by five strokes. Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas), Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) and Wenliang Xie (Xouqing, China) are all tied for sixth place at 2-under-par.Â

Acevedo had an even first round with four birdies and four bogeys. In the second round, he used five birdies to fuel a 2-under-par, 70. Tait was super-consistent, using four birdies to power a 1-under-par, 71, in round one, and 13 pars in round two to score the same. Xie had four birdies in both of his rounds on Saturday, shooting 1-under-par in both rounds.

Sophomore Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.) had a huge first round, using five birdies to power a 4-under-par, 68, but settled with a 6-over-par 78, in round two. Through two rounds, he's tied for 28th overall with a 2-over-par, 68-78-146.

After a disappointing first round, senior Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) shot a 2-under-par, 70, in round two. For the event, he's 9-over-par with an 83-70-153.Â

Competing as an individual, Ian Lee (Johor, Malaysia) is currently 11-over-par following a 77-78-155.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Charleston Southern, the large field will include 17 other teams including Campbell, College of Charleston, Eastern Kentucky, Florida State, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Jacksonville State, Lehigh, Presbyterian, Purdue Fort Wayne, South Carolina, USC Aiken, USC Upstate, VCU, Virginia, Western Carolina and Winthrop.

Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

The field will play two continuous rounds (36 holes) beginning with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday, and one final round on Monday.
