This list recognizes outstanding volleyball coaches who are deserving and prepared to take the next step in their careers.
BALDWIN, N.Y. – Seton Hall women's volleyball Assistant Coach Simone Asque was named to the Advancement of Blacks In Sports (ABIS) Volleyball Black Coaches Watch List.
Â
This list recognizes outstanding volleyball coaches who are deserving and prepared to take the next step in their careers.
Â
This ABIS Black Coaches Watch List will be shared annually with Athletic Administrators and Executive Search Firms during this year's hiring cycle. This year we are sharing the Volleyball Watch List at the start of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Convention in Columbus, OH December 15 - 18, 2021.
Â
The ABIS Watch Lists were created in response to Dr. Richard Lapchick's annual TIDES 2020 Racial & Gender Report Card (RGRC) in college sports that showed that men's and women's head basketball coaches of color were not representative of the population served.
Â
This list is also the third created this year as a women's basketball watch list was released in March and a men's and women's track and field watch list was released in June.
Â
Names were selected by our ABIS Volleyball Committee.
Â
A 2012 graduate of the University of Virginia, Asque was a three-time All-ACC honoree as a volleyball student-athlete. After brief coaching stints at Illinois-Chicago, NJIT and Coastal Carolina, Asque found a home in South Orange where she has been a Pirates assistant coach since February of 2018. Over the past four years, she has established herself as one of the "up-and-coming" talented young coaches in the profession. Last year, Asque was named one of only six coaches nationwide to receive a prestigious Pac-12 Diversity Mentorship.
