Plana Ventosa and El Khalifi Shine at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomores Aina Plana Ventosa and Hiba El Khalifi each scored singles victories for the Seton Hall women's tennis team, but the Drexel Dragons held on for a 4-3 team victory after picking up the deciding win at No. 5 singles Friday afternoon.

Plana Ventosa was successful at No. 3 singles, taking her match with Christina Corte in an exciting two sets, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). El Khalifi had a straight sets win over Marta Martinez, 6-4, 6-0.

Drexel earned the doubles point and wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. The match was then decided at No. 5 singles, where Emily O'Donovan took Pauline Kharkover to a tiebreak in the first set but lost. Kharkover then took the match with a 6-4 second set.

The Pirates will host St. John's Friday night, March 19, in their first BIG EAST match of the season.
