The Pirates share the award after shooting 7-under-par and tying for fourth at the Hartford Hawks Invitational.
NEW YORK – Seton Hall graduate student Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) and sophomore Alex Sun (Danville, Calif.) were named BIG EAST Men's Co-Golfers of the Week on Wednesday.
Â
Acevedo and Sun had equally impressive career-best performances at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn. earlier this week. As a team, the Pirates were able to finish second in a field of 18 teams.
Â
Acevedo followed his excellent first round with a brilliant 5-under-par, 67, in round two, and was the individual leader among 114 golfers after two rounds at 8-under-par. In round three, he was strong again, but settled with a 1-over-par, 73. For the three-round event, Acevedo tied for fourth place with a 7-under-par, 69-67-73-209. His performance is by far a career-best and his second-ever top-5 finish.Â
Â
Sun, competing as an individual, erupted for a record-tying 7-under-par, 65, in round two. He was under par again in round three, firing a 2-under-par, 70. Sun tied Acevedo for fourth place overall with a 7-under-par, 74-65-70-209, his first-ever top-5.  Sun's second-round effort ties former Pirate greats Lloyd Jefferson Go and Linus Yip for the lowest single-round score on a par-72 course in program history.
Â
Acevedo, Yip and the rest of the Pirates will return to the links on Oct. 10-11 for three rounds of golf at the Georgetown Intercollegiate at the Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md.
