South Orange, N.J. — Jared Rhoden (Baldwin, N.Y.) was named to the Portsmouth Invitational's All-Tournament Team this past weekend after posting 15.7 points per game on 58 percent shooting from the floor over three games to go along with 6.7 rebounds and two assists per game.
Playing with and against some of the top college basketball players in the country this past season, Rhoden helped lead the Norfolk Sports Club to a 2-1 record and a third-place finish. He scored a game-high 19 points, grabbed eight rebounds and shot 8-of-14 from the field in their opening victory before dropping 11 points and pulling down eight boards in the third place game. Rhoden also shot 55 percent from three-point range (5-of-9), averaged 1.2 steals per contest and made all four of his free-throw attempts.
Each year for 67 years, the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament has invited 64 of the best college basketball players (seniors) from across the nation to participate in a four-day, twelve game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team.
Rhoden was the linchpin for a Seton Hall squad that returned to the NCAA Tournament this season and registered its sixth 20-win season in the last seven years. He was named All-BIG EAST First Team and was named to NABC and USBWA All-District Teams after finishing sixth in the BIG EAST with 15.5 points per game. The guard ranks in a tie for 33rd in program history with 1,270 career points. Rhoden is one of only 12 Pirates to log more than 1,200 points and 600 rebounds in a career. He played on three teams that won at least 20 games, two NCAA Tournament teams and was a key contributor for the 2020 squad that won the BIG EAST regular season championship.
