SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall women's volleyball head coach Shannon Thompson announced today the hiring of Kelsey Goodman as the Pirates' new assistant coach.
Â
"I'm very excited to have Kelsey on board with us," Thompson said. "She's a very determined, intelligent, and hard-working coach who will help to lead efficient practices, recruit quality student-athletes and help manage day-to-day operations.  She's a joy to be around and very engaging with our players.  She'll be a great role model for these young women."
Â
Goodman brings a wealth of volleyball coaching knowledge to Seton Hall despite being only three years removed from her playing days. Her arrival comes after serving as Mitchell College's head coach during the 2021 season. At Mitchell, Goodman was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including budget management, recruiting, fundraising, scheduling, hiring of staff and overall team wellness. Under her tutelage, junior Olivia DeLoach was named First Team All-Conference.
Â
Prior to her time at Mitchell, Goodman was an assistant coach at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va. for two seasons.  In her first year, the WildCats posted 13 wins - the most since 2014 - and earned a berth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament.  Goodman worked summer camps before the start of her coaching career at Midlothian High School, Richmond Volleyball Club, and STAR Volleyball Camps with head coach Tom Houser.  Since 2018, she has also given private lessons to high school volleyball players.
Â
A native of Chesterfield, Va., Goodman was a four-year letter winner in women's volleyball at Roanoke College, where she played right side and was a captain in her senior year. Â She was also a member of Roanoke's SAAC all four years. Â Goodman graduated with a degree in health and physical education and went on to earn a master's in sports management at Liberty University.
