
Fricker Leads The Hall in Round One at Daniel Island

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Junior George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) shot a 1-under-par, 71, to fuel the Seton Hall men's golf team to an eighth-place tie after round one of the Daniel Island Invitational on Sunday.

Fricker had four birdies and 11 pars on his way to a 1-under-par, 71, in round one. He's currently tied for 13th place after 18 holes among 96 individual golfers. Middle Tennessee State's Kevin Jegers and UML's Melan Dhaubhadel lead the individual field at 6-under par.

As a team, The Hall shot a 3-over-par, 291, in the opening round and is tied for eighth place with Stetson and North Carolina – Wilmington, in the 18-team field. Middle Tennessee State currently leads the field at 5-under-par.

Patrick Kahanek (San Antonio, Texas) is just one stroke behind Fricker following an even-par, 72. He had three birdies and 12 pars to fuel his round and is currently tied for 22nd overall.

Graduate student Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) is currently only one stroke over par after a 73 in round one. He had four birdies in round one and is tied for 34th place overall.

Sophomore Jack Bosworth (Simsbury, Conn.) is currently 3-over-par after a first-round, 75. He's tied for 55th place overall.

Rounding out the Pirates' team scoring on Sunday was Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.). The senior had 14 pars in route to a 5-over-par, 77.

Two Seton Hall golfers also made the trip and are competing as individuals. Junior Joshua Lee (Lantana, Texas) is also tied for 22nd overall after an even-par, 72, while freshman Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) is 3-over-par after a 75 on Sunday.

Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

The field will play 18 holes each day over three days. Tee times will begin at 8:06 a.m. for rounds one and two and there will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. for round three.Â
