
Xie Excels Again as Pirates Close out Fall Season

The Hall finished 10th at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate with Xie tying for 12th overall.
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Graduate student Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) shot a 1-over-par, 73, on Tuesday to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a 10th place finish at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate.

Xie had three birdies and 12 pars during his Halloween round to finish with a team-best 1-over-par, 73. For the tournament, he tied for 12th place in the field of 96 individual golfers with a 1-under-par, 73-69-73-215. South Carolina's Frankie Harris won the individual title at 7-under-par.

It's Xie's second sub-par tournament of the fall and the ninth of his career, which moves him into a tie for second-most in Seton Hall history.

As a team, Seton Hall shot a 9-over-par, 297, on Tuesday. The Pirates placed 10th in an ultra-competitive 18-team field with a 12-over-par, 291-288-297-876. Middle Tennessee State won the team title at 10-under-par.

Jack Bosworth (Simsbury, Conn.) collected an eagle on the par-5, No. 6 hole on Tuesday to fuel a 2-over-par, 74. For the tournament, he registered a second-straight strong performance, tying for 35th place with a 3-over-par, 75-70-74-219.

Sophomore Patrick Kahanek (San Antonio, Texas) had 13 pars in round three on his way to a 5-over-par, 77. For the three-day event, he tied for 41st place with a 6-over-par, 72-73-77-222.

George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) finished the tournament only one stroke behind Kahanek. In round three, he shot a 2-over-par, 74, powered by an eagle on the par-5, No. 11 hole. For the tournament, he tied for 47th place with a 7-over-par, 71-78-74-223.

Senior Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.) closed out his final tournament of the fall with a 4-over-par, 76. For the event, he was 13-over-par with a 77-76-76-229.

Two Seton Hall golfers also made the trip and competed as individuals. Freshman Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) had a strong finish to his tournament, using four birdies to fuel a 1-over-par, 73, in round three. He shot up the leaderboard to finish 40th with a 5-over-par, 75-73-73-221.

Junior Joshua Lee (Lantana, Texas) closed out his tournament with a 4-over-par, 76, on Tuesday. For the tournament he was 12-over-par with a 72-80-76-228.

Teams played five golfers and counted the four lowest scores per round.
