Moeller Matches School Record in 50 Free on Day Two

East Meadow, N.Y. - The Seton Hall women's swimming and diving team closed out day two of the BIG EAST Championships with a trio of second-place finishes. Lea Moeller (New Lenox, Ill.) equaled her school record in the 50 Free, while Allie Waggoner (Moorestown, N.J.) and the 200 Free Relay team also captured silver medals on Thursday night.
Waggoner got the night started in the 500 Free, setting a new personal-best time of 4:53.17 to finish second. This broke her previous best time in the event of 4:53.99, which was set during preliminaries on Thursday morning.
In the 50 Free, Moeller matched her own school record of 23.25 en route to a silver medal finish. Cornelia Jerresand (Taeby, Sweden) also got on the podium in the final, taking home sixth with a time of 23.53. Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.) grabbed the top spot in the consolation final, doing so in a personal-best time of 23.40.
The night capped off with the 200 Free Relay which saw the Pirates narrowly finish second, just .05 seconds behind Villanova. Moeller, Jerresand, Josie McCartney (Verona, Wisc.) and Heim combined for a time of 1:33.15 in a race where first-place through fifth-place was decided by just .8 seconds.
After two days of competition, the Pirates find themselves in fourth place with 348 total points. Villanova currently holds the lead with 587 points.
