South Orange, N.J. - Redshirt junior Devin Hack (Somerville, N.J.) has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading Seton Hall offensively in its sweep of Creighton this past weekend. Graduate student Nick Payero (Monroe, N.J.) was named to the Weekly Honor Roll, his third conference honor this season.
Hack hit .500 (5-for-10) and slugged .700 with a triple and a team-best four runs scored. He reached base in seven of his 12 plate appearances. Defensively, Hack registered seven putouts in center field and didn't commit an error. Hack went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the series opener and followed that up with a 2-for-3 showing and two runs scored in the finale. Hack has now twice been named Player of the Week along with Weekly Honor Roll recognition on April 10.
Payero tossed 7.1 scoreless innings on Friday with seven strikeouts and no walks that set the tone for the series in a 7-0 win over the Bluejays. 7.1 innings stands as Payero's longest career outing. He surrendered only four hits and at one point retired 14 batters in a row from the second inning to the sixth inning.
