
Pirates Battle Hard in Narrow Defeat to Delaware on Senior Day

South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall men's swimming and diving team battled hard in a close loss at home to Delaware on Saturday, 157-143. Prior to the meet, the Pirates honored Sawyer Keyes (Missoula, Mont.), Gideon Langenbusch (Oberhausen, Germany), Justen Lopez (Levittown, N.Y.), Gaige Ryan (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.), Shayne Simmons (Danbury, Ct.) and Jonathan Ware (Cypress, Texas) during their Senior Day ceremony.
Lopez posted a strong Senior Day performance, earning a victory in the 100 Breast. The senior nabbed the win out of Lane 8 with a time of 58.08. Lopez added another top-three finish later in the 200 Breast, taking third place in 2:09.26.
Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) and Clil Halevi (Kafar Hadranim, Israel) each posted a strong afternoon in the freestyle events. Cary took home the 200 Free title in 1:41.04 before snagging another win in the 100 Free with a time of 46.77. Halevi swept each of the distance events, winning the 1000 Free with a time of 9:27.50 and touching the wall first in the 500 Free in 4:38.47.
Michael Klimaszewski (London, England) also picked up multiple victories on the afternoon. He first helped the 200 Free Relay team of he, Chris Jackson (Maywood, N.J.), Ben Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.) and Toma Adam (Bacau, Romania) win in a time of 1:31.30. The sophomore would later add an individual victory in the 100 Fly, clocking a time of 49.15.
In diving, Quinn Murtha (Cumming, Ga.) and Trevor Post (Bay City,Mich.) each earned victories. Murtha grabbed a win in the 1-meter with a score of 309.60. Post claimed the victory in the 3-meter with a score of 363.30, followed closely behind by Murtha who put up a personal-best score of 343.65.
The Pirates close out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 3 as they travel to Washington, D.C. to face Georgetown at 1 p.m.
