
Pirates Narrowly Fall to Towson in Road Opener 157-142

Towson, Md. – The Seton Hall Men's swimming and diving team fell short in their road opener against Towson 157-142, losing on the final event of the meet.
Diving
The men opened the meet in similar fashion to their season opening bout against Rider. Star freshman diver Nick Graham improved upon his strong debut, once again claiming victory in both the 1-meter board and 3-meter board with scores of 305.93 and 297.45, respectively. Graham's 3-meter board was a near 30-point improvement from his debut. 297.60 and 270.60, respectively.
Alongside Graham, Trevor Post continued being a reliable force in on the boards. Post placed second in the 1-meter board (267.83 points) and third in the 3-meter board (276.08 points), handing The Hall the advantage heading into the swimming portion of the meet.
Swimming
The Pirates opened the meet with familiar success in the 200 Medley Relay. Chris Jackson, Ben Endersby , Michael Klimaszewski and Toma Adam claimed victory to open the meet with a time 1:32.42.
Distance swimmer Sean Vizzard engaged in a close battle in the 1000 Freestyle, but the 2024 BIG EAST 1650 Freestyle Champion ended up falling short in the end. Vizzard finished with a 9:45.09, an eleven second improvement from last weekend.
Junior Kevin Cary proved to be dominant once again with another stellar weekend. Cary claimed overall victory in the 200 Freestyle with a 1:41.70, two full seconds clear of the next closest competitor. Alongside the 200 Freestyle, Cary claimed victory in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 46.51, four tenths clear of the rival Tiger in second place. He rounded out his trio of wins with a 1:54.11 in the 200 IM, almost one and a half seconds ahead of his closest opponent.
A few Pirates claimed single-event victories over the course of the meet. 2024 BIG EAST 100 Butterfly Champion Michael Klimaszewski continued his dominance in the event to start the year, finishing the race with a 50.61. Toma Adam claimed his second 50 Freestyle win in the as many weeks with a 21.16 win. The most notable of the individual victories was freshman Jake Karulf's victory in the 200 Butterfly with a time on 1:54.20.
Entering the final relay, either team could claim victory. However, a second-place finish in the event lead to a narrow 157-142 defeat.
What's Next
The Pirates' swimmers are back in the pool on Friday as they travel to Monmouth, N.J., to face Monmouth at 3 p.m. Diving, meanwhile will compete against TCNJ at home in Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
