Rane Leading Pirates after Two Rounds at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Freshman Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) is 12-over-par through two rounds and is the top performer for the Seton Hall women's golf team entering Sunday's round three at the Rutgers Invitational.

Rane started the tournament in a big way, shooting a 2-over-par, 73, in round one, aided by an eagle on the par-5, No. 4 hole. In the afternoon, she settled with a 10-over-par, 81. For the tournament, Rane is tied for 19th place with a 12-over-par, 73-81-154. Albany's Malene Clausen and Rutgers Rikke Norvik currently share the individual lead at 1-over-par.

As a team, The Hall shot a 13-over-par, 307, in round one, followed by a 39-over-par, 323, in round two. After 36 holes, the Pirates are in eighth place with a 62-over-par, 307-323-630. Host Rutgers currently leads the team field by 12 strokes at 18-over-par. Fellow BIG EAST competitor, Georgetown, is in third place at 36-over-par. St. John's is in sixth place at 53-over-par.

Senior Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) shot a 5-over-par, 76, in round one, followed by a 9-over-par, 80, in round two. Entering round three, she's tied for 23rd place with a 14-over-par, 76-80-156.

Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) had three birdies in the first round in route to an 8-over-par, 79. In round two, she shot a 10-over-par, 81. For the event, she is in 34th place with an 18-over-par, 79-81-160.

Sophomore Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) are currently tied for 38th place at 20-over-par. Todorovic was consistent on Saturday, firing a pair of 10-over-par, 81's. For the tournament, she has a 20-over-par, 81-81-162. Tran is shooting a 80-82-162.

Rounding out The Hall's lineup, Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) is 23-over-par with a 79-86-165 entering round three.

THE COURSE
Over 6,300 yards in length, the picturesque, tree-lined, PGA sanctioned course is a par 71 and offers a challenging layout with four teeing areas per hole. Highlights include narrow fairways, fast greens, and water hazards on seven holes. The 18-hole Rutgers University Golf Course is open to the general public and tee times start at 7 am weekdays and 6 am on weekends in the height of the season. Our targeted opening and closing dates, weather permitting, are March 1 and December 15.

Developed from a 9 hole facility, Rutgers University Golf Course was reopened on May 29, 1963 as an 18 hole facility. The course is located on Rutgers University's Busch Campus in Piscataway, and nearby points of interest are The Waksman Institute, Rutgers Medical School and multiple athletic facilities, including SHI Stadium. The mission of the course is to ensure that every player enjoys a timely round of golf played on superior fairways and true greens with uncompromising service and instruction.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Rutgers, the field is comprised of seven other teams including: Albany, Dartmouth, Lehigh, Monmouth and Sacred Heart. BIG EAST competitors Georgetown and St. John's are also in the field.

Teams will play six golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE SCHEDULE
The field will play two continuous rounds on Saturday beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. On Sunday, there will be one final round, also with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Seton Hall will be paired with golfers from Albany and St. John's on Saturday, beginning on holes 6 through 11.
