O'Brien Paces Pirates to Finish at Golfweek Challenge

Fricker and Hennessee tie for third among 85 individual golfers at 3-under-par.
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia) shot a 1-under-par, 71, on Tuesday to pace the Seton Hall men's golf team to an 11th place finish at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.

O'Brien had four birdies and 11 pars in route to his second sub-par round of the fall and the top Pirate round of the day. For the tournament, he tied for 50th place with a 9-over-par, 7678-71-225.

As a team, The Hall carded its best round of the tournament on Tuesday, an even-par, 288, which shaved 16 strokes off its second-round score. The effort allowed them to hop Loyola (Chicago) and finish in 11th place. For the tournament, the Pirates shot a 20-over-par, 292-304-288-884. Arkansas State won the team title going away at 35-under-par.

Senior George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) had five birdies and eight pars in round three on his way to an even-par, 72. Fricker was the top Seton Hall performer for the weekend, tying for 13th place among 85 individual golfers with a 3-under-par, 68-73-72-213.  The effort represents his sixth career sub-par tournament.

Austin Peay State's Patton Samuels won the individual title with at a remarkable 15-under-par.

Senior Patrick Kahanek (San Antonio, Texas) had four birdies on Tuesday to help him shoot his second even-par, 72, of the tournament. For the three-day event, he finished in a tie for 45th place with a 6-over-par, 72-78-72-222.

Sophomore Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) really only had difficulty on two holes, in an otherwise strong round. He had four birdies which fueled a 3-over-par, 75, in round three. For the 54 holes, Shah was 10-over-par with a 76-75-75-226.

Finishing the tournament only one stroke behind Shah was teammate David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland). Lally had a strong finish to this event, firing three birdies and 11 pars on way to a 1-over-par, 73. For the event, he was 11-over-par with a 76-78-73-227.

Freshman Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) had a tremendous tournament playing as an individual. In only his second collegiate event, he tied Fricker for 13th place overall with a 3-under-par, 70-68-75-213.Â

Teams played five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE SCHEDULE:
The teams played 18 holes on three consecutive days. All three days will begin with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.Â
