Fricker Dazzles in Round One at Golfweek Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Senior George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) fired a 4-under-par, 68, to fuel the Seton Hall men's golf team to a seventh place standing after round one of the Golfweek Fall Challenge.

Fricker had six birdies and 10 pars in a dazzling opening round in Pawleys Island. After 18 holes, he's tied for third among 85 individual golfers at 4-under-par. Austin Peay State's Patton Samuels and Wright State's Brock Rumpke share the individual lead at 6-under-par.

As a team, The Hall shot a 4-over-par, 292, in Sunday's first round in spite of wet conditions and a lengthy mid-afternoon delay. Arkansas State leads the field by five strokes after round one following an 11-under-par, 277.

Patrick Kahanek (San Antonio, Texas) also had a strong round despite the rain. The senior carded four birdies and 10 pars in route to an even-par, 72. After 18 holes, he's tied for 24^th place overall.

The remaining three Pirates all finished with a 4-over-par, 76, and are tied for 49^th place. David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland), fresh off his second-place finish last weekend, had three birdies and nine pars, sophomore Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) tallied three birdies and 10 pars, while senior Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia) had a birdie and 13 pars to fuel his round.

Competing as an individual, freshman Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) had the best round of his young career. Thanks to four birdies and 12 pars, he shot a 2-under-par, 70, and is tied for 10th overall.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall, the field includes 14 other schools: Arkansas State, Austin Peay State, Charleston Southern, Loyola (Chicago), Mercer, New Orleans, North Carolina A&T, Presbyterian, Richmond, Stephen F. Austin State, Stetson, USC Upstate, UT Arlington and Wright State.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE SCHEDULE:
The teams will play 18 holes on three consecutive days. All three days will begin with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
