After a dominant 2024-25 freshman campaign that saw Nick Graham claim BIG EAST Most Outstanding Male Diver, the now-sophomore opened the season already in championship form. Graham not only claimed the overall win on both the 1m and 3m boards, but his score of 338.85 on the 1m broke the school record of 336.83 held by Quinn Murtha.
Behind Graham, a pair of freshmen, Henry Summers and Mason Case, competed in their first meets. Summers produced the most notable performance of the two, finishing third on the 1m board with a score of 259.05. Case, meanwhile, opened his season with a pair of fifth-place finishes.
Entering the swimming portion of the meet, the Pirates held a 25-13 lead.

Just like last season, the Pirates' relay prowess played into their advantage at the start and end of the meet. The Hall claimed victory in both the 200 medley (1:30.85) and 400 freestyle (3:04.26) relays, easily dispatching the opposition.

When the individual events began, a freshman rose to the occasion to make an early impression on this season. Zach McLeod went out blazing fast in the 1000 freestyle, splitting two seconds faster per 50 in the opening stages. As the advantage he built diminished in the latter stages, however, the Canadian held firm to secure victory with a time of 9:31.58. McLeod claimed a second individual victory later on in the meet in the 500 freestyle, winning the race with a time of 4:39.88.

In middle-distance freestyle events, the Pirates' championship-caliber talent came into play. Kevin Cary, the reigning BIG EAST Champion in the 200 freestyle, secured an easy victory in the event with a time of 1:39.82. Behind him, 2025 BIG EAST Male Co-Most Outstanding Swimmer Balint Marosi finished in second and freshman Wesley Schlachter finished in fourth. Cary also claimed victory in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.88, 0.30 seconds ahead of BIG EAST 100 freestyle silver medalist Toma Adam.
Â
While he didn't secure victory in the 100 freestyle, Adam produced a dominant performance in the 50 freestyle. The Romanian won the event with a time of 20.61, 0.39 seconds clear of second place.

Rounding out the winners for the Pirates were a pair of butterfliers with vastly different skill sets. Jake Karulf, building off a strong freshman season, won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:52.92. Later on, in the 200 IM, Karulf launched a fervent comeback on the freestyle leg to pimp first place away from Towson, by 0.05 seconds, with a time of 1:54.62. Alongside him, reigning 100 butterfly BIG EAST Champion Michael Kilmaszewski easily secured a victory in his signature event with a time of 49.26.
