New Providence, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's tennis team took a 4-0 loss to Fairfield Friday night at Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness to conclude the day with a doubleheader split; the Pirates had beaten Sacred Heart in Trumbull, Conn., earlier in the day.
"This one just stunk, no other way to say it," said head coach James Enzler. "We felt we were so close the entire time, but we just couldn't capitalize at crucial moments. It definitely leaves a bad taste in our mouths, but thankfully, we have the opportunity to get right back on track tomorrow. We just have to accept this one and move on."
In doubles, the tandem of Niamh Campbell and Tamsin Hart captured their second win of the day when they defeated Nicole Lofeffler and Maria Gell in the No. 2 position, 6-2. Seton Hall was one point away from taking the team doubles point, but the Pirates couldn't close and lost tiebreakers at both No. 1 and No. 3.
Fairfield went on to take No. 2, 3 and 5 singles in straight sets.Â
The Pirates are back in action Saturday at Hofstra with the match taking place in Port Washington, N.Y.
